Market Engagement Pledge
STAR Procurement is committed to market engagement and will continue to research and understand what is available locally and within Greater Manchester (GM).
STAR Procurement will engage with the local and GM market through its ‘Go Local’ work stream, focussing on future contract opportunities.
STAR Procurement will encourage and enable its commissioners to deliver local opportunities and understand how the local market can reciprocate.
What is Local Investment?
In accordance with its Market Engagement Pledge, STAR Procurement is reviewing the way in which each STAR Council tenders for low value contract opportunities in its Borough. Wherever possible, STAR will ensure that these opportunities are made available to companies local to each STAR Council borough and to the wider supply market across Greater Manchester.
Are you interested in contracting with the STAR Councils?
STAR Procurement has developed an engagement plan for each of our three category areas of spend and mplementation began in September 2018. The category engagement plans are being delivered through targeted engagement events and training for businesses that will support future contract opportunities for each STAR Council. Details of specific events and how to book on them will be posted here from time to time and promoted through our Twitter account @STARProcurement.
STAR Procurement also supports its Councils by hosting a joint Meet the Buyer event. These take place approximately every 18 months. The last event was held in Rochdale Town Hall in November 2018. The next planned joint Meet the Buyer event is planned to be hosted by Trafford Council in May 2020. A dedicated website for this event will provide further information closer to the time and all suppliers registered on The Chest (the eProcurement portal for all STAR Councils) will be notified well in advance.
If you want to know more about Local Investment, please contact the Category Manager at STAR Procurement that is responsible for your area of business. STAR Procurement has seven Category Managers and their contact information is available on our structure chart. If you are unsure which Category Manger is aligned to your core business, check out the information about our category teams and their areas of responsibility.
